FileZerver release V04.14.00a is now available for download for firmware update of Cyclone 2+ boards using the admin "Firmware Update" web page, ZerverView, or FTP, in file fzi0414a.bin. Change for V04.14.00a -- A problem was found within V04.14.00 -- with Windows/CIFS/SMB access, files larger than 2GB would have an error reported for open for read, open to overwrite, and for delete. Files less than 2GB would have no problem. The only change in V04.14.00a is the fix to this problem. The difficulty did not relate to the newer/better samba code, which does appear to be better as well as newer. The problem was in details of the FileZerver run-time environment. March 14, 2005 Changes for V04.14.00 -- To handle Windows/CIFS/SMB protocol, a newer version of the samba program, release samba-3.0.11, has been used. Recent FileZerver releases have been using samba-3.0.4. Each samba release in that interval includes improvements in performance and function, as well as repairs, which should be mostly invisible to FileZerver users. This upgrade was done to include a particular improvement, which should allow the program "Microsoft Windows Backup" (sometimes called "NT Backup") to run better. Another visible change relates to the number of concurrent server SmartMirror operations that would be allowed. The limit had been 4, and is now 8. The number of client SmartMirror operations allowed on a FileZerver at one time is still one. March 4, 2005
